All Texas Team

The Txprepsfootball.com All Texas Team is derived from all classifications, and, unlike the Associated Press All-State teams, does take the post season into account, but also tries to project what players may have accomplished had their team advanced further in the playoffs.






OFFENSE

Quarterbacks

Garrett Gilbert - Lake Travis (4A), Junior
Son of former NFL quarterback Gale Gilbert. Established state records for most yards in a single season (4,826) and passes completed (359), completed 64.68%, 52 TDs, only 12 INTs. Led the Cavaliers to the Class 4A Division II State Championship.
Vincent McNeil Jr. - Dallas Roosevelt (3A), Senior
Prototype dual-threat quarterback, led team to 3A quarterfinals, 1,626 yds. rushing, 8.6 yds. per carry, 19 TDs, 2,058 yds. passing, completed 62.23%, 35 TDs, only six INTs.
Coleman Bentley - Canadian (2A), Senior
Led the Wildcats to the Class 2A Division II State Championship. He threw for 3,746 yards with 43 touchdowns on the year, and was 25-40 in the championship game with five touchdowns.


Running Backs

Jermie Calhoun - Van (3A), Senior
Had 1,908 yards rushing with 30 TDs; also threw for 804 yards with 4 TDs; verbal commitment to Oklahoma Sooners.
Marcus Wright - San Antonio Reagan (5A), Senior
Ran for the seventh highest single season rushing total in Texas High School football history (3,374 yds.), Ended career with 7,036 yds., averaged 9.5 per carry and scored 45 TDs.
Jacquizz Rodgers - Lamar Consolidated (4A), Senior
Ran for 2,872 yds. and 37 TDs, averaged 6.63 yds. per carry, caught 23 passes for 552 yds. and five TDs, established state record for career TDs (136). Led the Mustangs to the Class 4A Division I State Championship.
Will Clay - Snyder (3A), Senior
Led the Tigers to the semifinals. Ran for 14th highest single season total in Texas High School football history with 3,137 yds. and had 42 touchdowns.


Offensive Line

Aaron Fortenberry - Era (1A), Senior
Graded 97.3 percent, 72 pancakes, no sacks allowed.
Anthony Mackey - Copperas Cove (4A), Junior
75 pancake blocks, 54 decleats, no sacks allowed.
Helped lead team to Division I State Championship game.
J.B. Shugarts - Klein (5A), Senior
121 pancakes, no sacks allowed, verbal committed to Ohio State.
Daniel Campbell - Aldine (5A), Senior
70 pancakes, invited to All-American Bowl, committed to USC.
Adam Thomas - Celina (3A), Senior
41 pancakes, graded out at 96 percent, helped lead team
to Class 3A Division II State Championship.
Brack Wempa - Royce City (3A), Junior
52 pancakes, no sacks allowed in 303 pass attempts.


Wide Receivers

DeSean Hales - Klein Oak (5A), Senior
42 receptions for 722 yds., 7 TDs, ran for 910 yds., 10.58 ave., 8 TDs,
verbal commitment to Texas.
Seth Gardner - Highland Park (4A), Senior
Helped lead the Scots to the Class 4A Division II State Championship game. Caught 73 passes for 1,491 yds., 20.4 ave., 21 TDs, committed to Arkansas on baseball scholarship.
Rocky Rodriquez - La Villa (1A), Senior
54 receptions, 1,021 yds. and 17 TDs., favorite target of all-state QB J.D. Cisneros, also excellent defensive player.
Jason Bird - Lake Travis (4A), Senior
Shattered the state record for receptions in a single season with 151 catches for 1,771 yards and 25 touchdowns. Helped lead the Cavaliers to the Class 4A Division II State Championship.


Kicker

Todd Phillips - Bushland (2A), Senior
46-49 PATs; 13-17 FGs (52 longest), 60 touchbacks.

Running Back
Weslaco Panthers

Weslaco running back Mishak Rivas had an outstanding year, rushing for 3,300 yards, while averaging an astonishing 13.3 yards-per-carry. His rushing yardage was the 10th highest single season total in Texas High School football history and he also averaged 26 yards per reception on 17 catches for 3,722 all-purpose yards. Round Rock McNeil Mavericks

Rock Rock McNeil senior defensive back Aaron Williams, who moved to safety this season, is projected as a cornerback in college, where he plans to wear the burnt orange of the University of Texas next season. Williams, who runs a 4.4 forty, had 121 tackles, 3 interceptions and two blocked extra points on the year, and is rated the 40th best recruit in the nation by Rivals.com.
